It is one of the five sacred herbs in the Vedas and has been used in ancient India since about 2000 BCE. The Ananda Kanda devotes an entire chapter to hemp, including information on its toxicity, cultivation, preparation, and use.
Most people might be surprised to learn that hemp seeds have long been employed in Ayurveda. Dr Deshmukh says, “The seeds are a fantastic source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which are excellent for your heart, as well as rich in proteins, which revitalize the body and encourage growth, and fibre (aids in digestion). Hemp seeds are tamasic in nature, which means they have a powerful and anchoring effect on the body.”

- Hypertension, or high blood pressure
There are reservations about the safety of hemp seed oil consumption or use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so it is best to take a doctor’s advise beforee you take to it. In some cases, it could lead to allergies.
